CRYSTAL® The Packaging Concept Crystal® Airbox is a completely sealed standard carton that can be manufactured at commercially viable speeds in a cost effective way. The positive outcome of the worldwide PCT patent search resulted in a worldwide national patent application for Crystal® Airbox. Several patents already have been issued. Crystal® Airbox targets products that benefit from the following properties: - sealed corners preventing sifting of fine particles - sealed against insect infestation - environmental advantage through recyclable mono materials Application of Crystal® Airbox prevents the need of bag-in-box or any other inner packaging. Crystal® Airbox is based on applying low gram barrier coated paper strips with excellent folding characteristics to the top and bottom of the carton in order to cover the weak corner points. However the completely sealed carton comes into existence by punched out holes that act as a relief point for the glue of the patch application and that allow all the glue lines to interconnect between the various plies of board. The side glue seam is connected to the top and bottom glue lines, forming one continuous glue circuit resulting in a completely sealed carton.
