Obviously patching and barrier coated board leads to an increase of costs. However Crystal calculate that taking all of the mentioned aspects into account in a total packaging concept for a product, considerable reduction of total packaging costs will be easily achieved. Accurate costing can only be calculated for specific products with defined packaging needs. Therefore Crystal has developed an interactive demo software program that enables the user to fill in specifications after which the program gives an indication of the cost advantage of Crystal® Airbox over traditional carton boxes with inner packaging. Utilizing the Crystal®Airbox concept future developments include research into a process that can convert and fill a carton blank all in one. This will bring down costs even more.
